If today was your last day in this world, are you where you want to be?
A customer asked me this question today at work.
I answered without hesitation, “Yes. I am.”
My unbelieving coworker handed the man his beverage, and then he went to sit down. He was obviously a Christian, but I was kind of put off by his approach.
No relationship between us was established. He made the assumption I was an unbeliever and had no relationship with God. And his one question to “make me think” was concerning death.
THERE IS SO MUCH MORE about having a relationship with Christ besides making the most our life before death. It’s not about leading people to Him through raising awareness of regret.
It’s about knowing Him. It’s about HIM. If we focus the gospel message on ourselves and what we get out of it firstly, then we’ve failed.
I am right where I want to be, not by my own choice or desire, but because I am where God has placed me. I am in His will and that’s all that matters. I’m in a workplace where nobody knows Jesus but may encounter Him through me. That’s exactly where I want to be.
This short exchange stirred me up even more with the passion to disciple and encourage fellow believers to not think of evangelism as “winning souls” (gotta get ‘em saved!) but building relationships with people, demonstrating God’s love to them, and sharing His truth with humility and grace, becoming a means of grace that God works through in His own way…not just challenging someone’s thinking or way of life.
