We need to realize evangelism is a process. People have a lot of pain, hurt, struggles, questions, doubts, and heart issues they need to work through as they seek the truth. Lies need untangled and walls need broken down. That doesn’t always happen in an instant. God was patient with us: we need to be patient with others.
We need to love them through it and not give up. Because even when it looks like nothing has changed, the Holy Spirit could be at work in a person’s heart in ways we can’t see or know. If you are sharing the gospel or witnessing to someone, trust God. Remember the time it may have taken for you to come to a place of surrender and do what you can do best for them: pray.
